jozif Re-imagines Valerie June's Gospel Anthem Into a Dancefloor Banger

Overalls? Check.

When "organic moonshine roots music" artist Valerie June crafted her feelsy gospel anthem "Workin' Woman Blues" back in 2012, something tells me she didn't expect it to one day be flipped into a late-night dancefloor anthem. Two years after its initial release however, her music has crossed paths with one of dance music's most accomplished producers, the London-based jozif, who has thrown Valerie's track into the melting pot with a reconstructed product built for late nights, and early mornings.

The initial folky acoustic purrs of the original are switched out for some industrial analog bass and powerful chords, adding to the raw emotion of Valerie's voice. Hauting guitar plucks then swirl around punchy drums, culminating in a hair-raising breakdown. Take my advice and go grab a fresh pair of overalls to rock at the nearest dance cave for when this one gets dropped under the lights, you'll feel right at home.

jozif's Rutka EP comes out on Leftroom Agusut 25th, followed by a two-part EP on Culprit in September
