Tinder Is Releasing a New App—But You’re Not Allowed to Use It

Dating app Tinder has announced a new product. It might come as a surprise, but the app isn’t aimed at hooks up. Well, not romantic ones. The app has been designed in collaboration with Forbes and is only available to the 2,000 or so entrepreneurs who’ve made it onto Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list.

Instead of helping its users to get laid, the app will bring brains together. "Our Under 30 app is a tool we developed to better connect, empower and mobilise this community to help change the world," says Salah Zalatimo, Head of Mobile Products at Forbes.

Tinder co-founder Sean Rad made the 30 list last year, so the partnership seems like a pretty good match. The new app is described as a form of ‘speed networking’. Similar to Tinder, users will be able to create profiles containing information about their industry experience and they’ll also be able to upload photos of themselves (we’re expecting a significantly higher ‘clothing’ to ‘skin’ ratio). And yes—the swipe left/right and private messaging functions will remain.

The purpose is to create an exclusive network of Forbes alumni, but as anyone who has received one too many skill endorsements or tenuous connection requests on LinkedIn might know, the boundaries between professional and personal can often blur.

The app launches at Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Summit in Philadelphia on October 4-7.
