Mat the Alien Will Make Sure You “Don’t Stand Still”

The Whistler resident crash landed into our collective consciousness with his upcoming album 'Alienated Vol. 1.'

We're not entirely sure if there is life on other planets, but we're pretty confident that the music from bass producer/DJ Mat the Alien isn't from the planet Earth. The Whistler resident crash landed into our collective consciousness with his upcoming album Alienated Vol. 1, and THUMP has the exclusive premiere of one of its hottest tracks, "Don't Stand Still."

Mat describes his sound as "many styles [but] not donkey style," and after listening to "Don't Stand Still" we're inclined to agree with him. Opening the action with a series of eerie, graveyard synths and some gritty scratches, the song quickly transitions into a gnarly, glitched-out beat that should definitely please fans of the bass nation. Without resorting to the face-melting squeals of his brostep contemporaries, Mat has supplied a grimy piece of dubstep music that doesn't feel like a faux tough guy track; it just feels tough.

According to Mat, Alienated Vol. 1 is "a selection of beats I've made over the last four years from all different tempos and genres." You can pick up the album this season via Mat's own label, Really Good Recordings.
