The family of one of the victims of a fatal shooting at the Toronto nightclub, Muzik, in August 2015 is suing the establishment for $2.5 million in damages, The Star reports. In a lawsuit filed this week, the family of Duvel Hibbert—who was shot at an after party being held at Muzik—alleges in a suit filed in Toronto that club security measures and training were inadequate in preventing guns from getting inside the club.

Hibbert was one of two victims in a double homicide that occurred on August 4, 2015 at Muzik during the after party for Drake's OVO Fest, an annual multi-day hip-hop festival. The Star reported that, according to police officials, Hibbert was the intended target of the attack. The other victim, Ariela Navarro-Fenoy, was an innocent bystander.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

Muzik recently unveiled to the The Star that they have since spent roughly $250 thousand dollars on new security measures and an additional half-million dollars on technology upgrades—including cameras with facial recognition software and nine metal detectors, each one retailing for about $7,500.

The lawsuit, and the club's security resulting measures, comes as Muzik is ramping up for the NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto, February 12–14. It will host MAXIM's All-Star Party with Shaquille O'Neale and Snoop Dogg.

THUMP reached out for a comment from Muzik, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
