Explore Bud Light Sensation with Bingo Players

At this point, you've probably heard of Bingo Players' seminal 2011 single, "Cry (Just A Little)." Featuring a timeless re-recording of the vocal hook from Brenda Russell's 1988 hit song "Piano in the Dark," the crossover dance hit helped launch the careers of Dutch producers Maarten Hoogstraten and Paul Baumer. What you might not know, however, is what happened afterwards.

Fast forward two years later, and the duo had reached their creative and commercial zenith. Their own label, Hysteria Records, was responsible for a slew of successful big room house releases, including cuts from MAKJ, Henry Fong, and Bassjackers.  The duo's infectious single "Get Up (Rattle)" had hit #1 in the UK charts, Gold in Canada, and over 40 million views on YouTube. Bingo Players were mainstays at the biggest dance music festivals in the world. And then Paul suddenly became sick.

In July 2013 Paul Baumer shocked the world by declaring that he had cancer. Only six short months later, Maarten Hoogstaten would announce that Baumer had passed away. There was an immediate outpouring of support from the entire dance music community, as artists like Skrillex, New World Punx, and Kaskade all paid tribute to their fallen brother. The question on everyone's mind soon became the same: What would happen to the Bingo Players?

After taking time off to grieve, Maartin decided to honor Paul's last wishes:

"He always said to me, 'If you can find solace and continue what we started, please do so. Please continue the music. Carry on the Bingo Players flag'… I took a holiday, took some time off to clear my head and think about things. I thought [that] Paul's right. I should continue, and continue the name and continue his legacy."

Since then, Maartin has continued to release music until the Bingo Players' moniker, thanks in part to previously finished productions between the duo and his own new tunes. 2014 saw the release of the highly successful single "Knock You Out," remixes from the likes of Hardwell and Gorgon City, as well as new performances worldwide.

"The vibe is still the same. People want to have a good time, come together, and experience the music."
