Daisuke Tanabe's "Pinebee" is Breakbeat Spoonman

The Japanese beatwiz is on some artsy tip and we're all about it.

This is some artsy shit. Daisuke Tanabe's new album Floating Underwater is fifteen tracks of sample-based sonic experimentation. The Tokyo/London resident was part of RBMA's 2010 class (Along with Tokimonsta and Kidkanevil), and the elevated perspective of his music is immediately evident on the record – It zags everywhere from spaced out beat music to ambient to chiptune.

This track, "Pinebee," is one of the more up-front of the lot. In it, Tanabe re-arranges jungle samples with a sky of manipulated sounds. If you're into smart-person music, give this whole record a listen. It might be tough to get your Melbourne shuffle on, but at least your ears will be dancing.
