Love Cult Wander a Troubled Russian Cityscape in their Haunting Short Film for "This Good"

Follow the duo to an unknown destination through council estates, train tracks and empty parks.

It's there from the start: a restless tension, coiled energy, and suspence. And it's there long after you finish listening. Russian duo Love Cult are masters of mood, and they've captured a strong feeling on "This Good" from their Wonderland EP. If those names imply some form of paradise, we soon discover, just like Alice before us, that nothing is what it first seems. The whole release is a compelling combination of haunted vocals, relentless percussion, sinister synths and bass. We're pleased to premiere their new video for "This Good", directed by Alina Filippova. With a range of close cuts and wide angles, council estates, trains and empty parks, the video manages to be claustrophobic and agoraphobic all at once. We're hooked. Watch above, and read below some insights from the duo and video director.

Anya Kuts & Ivan Zoloto (Love Cult):
"This Good" is a song about those events which seem accidents at first but in time grow to be larger than you. Some insignificant shit ruining your life. It's a ever-present feeling of menace. It's about being afraid of something that you do outgrowing the intentions, of it possibly harming you or your loved ones. We bet our Russian audience know what we're talking about. For the video we gave Alina no prior comments or directors and we somehow knew she'd get the message just by listening to the track. She fucking nailed the feeling.

Alina Filippova (director):
This music video is a personal and collective memory of a certain time, place, sound. It's basically a short film about the invisible motor that pushes us forward, and when we begin to fall we struggle to remember where it was we were going.
