A Mix by Brooke Powers
The Melbourne-based DJ put this together ahead of her queer Shimmerlands day party this weekend.
Brooke Powers has been mastering the art of the perfect party set for years now. Getting better and better all the time, this Cool Room episode featuring the Melbourne-based DJ remains one of our favourite pieces of dance music Internet content. With sets that move through house and garage and into techno and pop, Brooke has graced stages for the likes of Misty Nights, Trough, Paradise Music Festival and Pleasure Planet.
Ahead of her queer party this Saturday at Shimmerlands—which will see Wahe, Perno Inferno, Geryon, Bahdoesa and Brooke all under one (outdoor) roof—we asked the up-and-coming DJ to put together a mix for Thump.
"I made this mix while I was having a bit of a DJ identity crisis. I looked at my record collection and thought to myself why the f do I only collect records from the 90s? So I started collecting some newer stuff, this mix is combination of that and also my older records." Perfect for late-night dancing and zoning the fuck out, this hour-long mix is ta primo appetiser for the weekend.
