Portugal's Enchufada label—run by João Barbosa from Buraka Som Sistema and his friend, also named João—are giving away a ton of free music from the rising stars of tropical bass. Remember baile funk, that Brazilian genre that was all about pairing raw classic electro sounds with young MCs screaming about big juicy dunkies? It was the tits. Or was it the butts? Anyway, it's rad and really gets the people moving like its monkey mating season on the dancefloor. Haven't heard much about Rio for a while, but 21-year-old French-Portuguese producer Mala Noche is helping keep the sound going with tracks like this one. "Macaco" takes baile's insistent vibe, percolating drums, and MC samples and puts them into a more tropical electro-house format—not as gritty and f'ed up sounding, but guaranteed to get some popozudas in the air… if you know what I'm sayin.
