How does one describe an act like friendships? It's tough. They work audio and visual into each other until you can't quite decipher which is which anymore. They don't sit, fixed, within any one genre—though pigeonholing them as garage is probably as close as you'll get. Their social media presence (sorry) is probably as much of their performance as their show is. Whatever they are, it works. Press Gang, presenter of PBS FM's Zen Arcade says that "friendships is less of a band that you discover and more of one that carpet bombs your social consciousness."

Press Gang had friendships perform live in the studio for the show, and the recording of the incredible track "Paradise" has earned a place on the PBS FM Best of Studio 5 Live compilation—a collection of the radio station's best and most popular live-on-air sets and tracks performed by some super talented artists. The compilation is being released as part of PBS' annual Radio Festival. The Melbourne independent radio station has been community-run and not-for-profit since 1979, and supports independent and local music.

Friendships' inclusion in the release is a no-brainer, as the recording of "Paradise" is seriously something else. The duo's long-awaited debut album is expected later this year, accompanied by a full Australian and US tour.

Today on THUMP we have the exclusive stream of "Paradise" live in Studio 5, for the first time on the world wide web. Listen below.
