Nothing to Fear and Nothing to Doubt with the Reflective Dancefloor Styles of Melbourne's Wabz

Melbourne producer shares the deep dancefloor cut "Alley."

It's clear Wabz has a way with sound. His debut single "Sweetwater Creek" arrived out of the blue on Solitaire Records earlier this year, a sophisticated slice of two-step garage pop. Now, the Melbourne producer offers us "Alley," another side of his studio skills. It's a darker dancefloor cut with rough rhythms, haunting vocal samples, and soothing acoustic textures. Movement and stillness in equal measure, it's a song seemingly descended from the folk-inflected electronic sounds of early Four Tet.

"'Alley' is an attempt to capture a moment of solitude and reflection in this busy world," says Wabz. "You can be in a bustling city, filled with faces passing by, yet you can turn down a single alley in that same city and it can be comfortably secluded, quite. A place you can pause and watch the pulse of the world without the pressure of having to go with it, just watch it go by and reflect.

"My upcoming album, Argyle,__ as a whole is me reflecting, trying to capture moments in time I want others to vibrate with. I hope 'Alley' is one of those tracks that creates the right amount of nostalgia and reminds people of the place they were at in their lives when they heard it. I hope they relive that moment and the music reminds them of things they otherwise wouldn't have remembered."
