Capping off an incredibly busy year that's included the release of their DFA Records debut Demain est une autre nuit, member Marie Davidson's solo album, and various other projects, Montreal minimal wave duo Essaie Pas have announced a new six-song remix EP. Out Nov. 18 via DFA, the release includes reworks by Orphx, Function, Daniel Maloso, and more.

We've already heard the former's take on "Lights Out," and today we're premiering Brooklyn-based techno producer Malory's menacing version. In an email to THUMP, the Godmode affiliate got straight to the point by explaining her remix "was inspired by dark."

Whereas the original sounds miasmic and ominous, as if darkness itself has a texture that's billowing and voluminous, her take on "Lights Out" is direct and claustrophobic. The track begins immediately with the original's main riff and the familiar sounds of Davidson repeating the titular phrase. Malory changes the beat up, putting the song off-kilter and right in your face, before punctuating the vocalist's words with what sounds like a pair of rusty shears being opened and closed.

Listen to the remix and check out a tracklist below.
