House music titan Kerri Chandler has dusted off his double bass and recorded an orchestral rework of his soulful deep house uplifter "The Way It Goes (Track 1)." The track was a collaboration between Chandler, vocalist Troy Denari who appears on the original "The Way It Goes," violinist Patrick Mangan, saxophonist Carolyn Goodwin, and Hervé Martens on the keys.The already jazzy electronic track is reimagined with acoustic instruments in lieu of programmed ones, resulting in a gorgeous mid-song saxophone solo that recalls late-50s hard-bop. The rework is available for free download at SoundCloud, and is streaming below.The track was part of a project called Unplug, sponsored by Boiler Room and Ray Ban. They also produced an accompanying short-film, which sees Chandler performing the rework live in a cathedral while giving voice-over explanations of the process. "My bass has been sitting in the corner for a while now, I got my calluses back," he said.Boiler Room and Ray Ban are also hosting an Unplug event under their RBxBR017 sessions project, which will feature UK house duo Bicep and the Parisian DJ Jeremy Underground playing on the bill along with Chandler.
