Luciano Celebrates Cadenza's 100th Release with "Rickson Trephala"

"It's a real journey, more music for the head and for the mind," say the Swiss-Chilean culture-mashing superstar.

Swiss-Chilean house and techno superstar Luciano has done a lot in his long career. In addition to his countless releases, the producer and DJ has collaborated with Pharrell Williams, participated in charity work in Soweto, South Africa, and single-handedly held the torch for the handlebar mustache for a significant period of time. Perhaps most impressive, though, is the ascent of his label Cadenza. It's seen releases from Ricardo Villalobos, Mirko Loko, and a bevy of Luciano alter-egos in less than a decade, and now they're on to release #100.

"Cadenza represents the sound of the Latin and South American rhythms and culture brought into the world of Techno and House," Luciano tells THUMP. "My Chilean roots have definitely helped shape my sound and vision for the label, and I'm very proud to represent that sound on a worldwide platform. "

The honor of the 100th release has gone to Luciano himself, under his Lucien-n-Luciano moniker. The two-track release, titled Grace of an Art, features two sprawling examples of Luciano's steady control of vibe and unique musical positionally. "It's a landmark release," he says. "And in a way it represents my artistic growth over the last 10 years. It encapsulates everything I stand for, and at the same time it's a look to the future. For me and Cadenza, these are times of change, and this is a massive chunk of my musical history.

We've got the premiere of "Rickson Trephala," and in Luciano's words: "It's a real journey, more music for the head and for the mind. It feels good to have myself doing this, especially with the Lucien-N-Luciano moniker. I don't really know when I made the tracks, I guess they've been around since I started producing almost 20 years ago! They've been there, lurking in my studios and in my head throughout the years."

"There are some great new releases coming up from our friends on Cadenza," says Luciano. "The next release coming from Mirko Loko with a superb Carl Craig remix, and Mirko's second album for Cadenza as well."
