Alix Alvarez’s Blazing Style is Setting Precedence for the Future of Dance Music

Alix Alvarez learned his trade under the watchful eyes and ears of many of New York's true house music visionaries, so it's no surprise that his music is held in such high regard. Growing up in the Bronx, Alvarez started on the turntables at age 12, mixing Todd Terry's famed "Bango" and cutting up hip-hop tracks by Big Daddy Kane and DJ Premier. Underground classics like Timmy Regisford's "Shelter" and Little Louie Vega's "Dance Ritual" were also early influences in Avarez's house music education. His favourite tunes ignited a passion for music production and, eventually, landed him an assistant engineer position at Vega and Kenny Dope's legendary MAW (Masters At Work) studios.

Alvarez has since found himself an integral part of the New York scene. He's meshed with some of the most prominent players in the industry, finding notable mentorship under prominent names like Sandy Rivera and Osunlade. His releases have also been in regular rotation with artists like Loco Dice, Josh Wink, Luciano, and Ricardo Villalobos amongst others.

Alix Alvarez's latest production is a remix on Downhill Music owner Juliche Hernandez's October 5 release on Electronique. The EP features three cuts of deep and sexy house grooves, with the scorcher "Hi Fly" complimented perfectly by Alvarez's remix duties. Keeping his New York roots in tact, Alvarez's blazing style sets precedence for the future of dance music.
