Dutch EDM phenom Martin Garrix published a short essay paying homage to the LGBTQ community today in honor of Pride month. In it, he affirms the necessity of standing up for one another's rights. The essay was published in Billboard as part of their Pride month love letters series, which also features pieces by Cakes Da Killa, Celine Dion, and more.

He tells a story about how his home country came together to support two gay men in the wake of an assault, and explains how the event showed to unity can "create such a beautiful and powerful message."

"Whenever I'm on stage it makes me so happy to see all these different people in the crowd having fun together," He writes. "Music really unites people and no matter who tries to get in our way, it will always continue to do so. This Pride month I'm sending my love and immense gratitude to the entire LGBTQ community which includes my friends, colleagues, fellow artists, and of course my incredibly loyal fans."
