​Kaytranada, Grimes, BADBADNOTGOOD, Tanya Tagaq, and More Nominated for the 2017 Prism Prize

The winner of the $15,000 cash award for best Canadian music video will be announced May 14.

Grimes, Kaytranada, BADBADNOTGOOD, Harrison, Tanya Tagaq, A Tribe Called Red, and Holy Fuck are among the 20 nominees for this year's Prism Prize, an annual award that recognizes outstanding video art in the Canadian music industry.

The longlist was selected by a jury of more than 120 music, film and media arts professionals, and is based on the criteria of originality, creativity, style, innovation, and effective execution. The winning video will be awarded $15,000 (CAD) at the Prism Prize Award Presentation and Screening, to be held on May 14 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto.

In addition to the grand prize, an Audience Award, and Special Achievement Award for "artistic achievements and exceptional worldwide contribution to music video art" are to be awarded. The Arthur Lipsett Award for "innovative and unique approaches to music video art" will also be announced.

The Prism Prize Top 10 shortlist will be announced March 28, watch a trailer and some of the nominated videos below.
