Purple Disco Machine Brings Piano House Into Deep Waters with 'No Lips'

How low can you go?

When you think of the piano-driven house sound of the 1990s (and subsequent revival spearheaded by the likes of Dusky, Doorly, Shadowchild, not to mention MK), you don't necessarily think of it among the deeper shades of the house spectrum. German artist Purple Disco Machine, however, is here to showcase the possibility of taking those black and white keys into much deeper and immersive territories.

As part of his aptly-titled Purple Pianos, the artist's debut on Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora's Kittball Records, PDM comes forth with "No Lips" (as well as "Where We Belong on the A-side), and it's a melting pot of classic piano house riffs, a deep, chugging bassline, and utterly hypnotic groove. A sound one can't help but refer to as "deep piano house." (Yup, just invented that).

With tracks like these, you're left to wonder-how low can piano house go?
