Video: JoeFarr - "Tape7"

Earlier today, a confused bystander watching this video from behind my shoulder called it "the worst early-morning visual assault ever." Some people just can't handle freakiness with their cereal, I guess. Visual manifestations of creepy, far-out electronic music usually skew towards the abstract. (See Jesse Kanda's long-limbed jellyfish for Arca, or the gleaming motes of color in Tetsuya Mizaguchi's raver-paradise game Child of Eden for some particularly mind-melting examples.)

Enter Oisin O'Brien, who started out throwing breakcore and gabba parties before he launched the first Belfast Electronic Festival. Oisin now heads up DSNT, a collective of Irish visual wizards who dabble in all kinds of digital alchemy, including projection mapping on fog and water jets. (Oooh, pretty.) He's the guy behind the screensavers-gone-wild visuals to UK producer JoeFarr's latest track, "Tape 7," which happens to be the leading techno stomper on this upcoming DMF EP. Oisin DSNT last handled JoeFarr's visuals for his "Bound" music video, which involved misty water screens that actually look a lot like Moderat's interactive fog projections.
