It was just a week and a half ago that rumors of a Daft Punk tour in 2017—which have since been debunked—had the internet's attention in a vice grip. Today now another hypothesis about the French duo's first tour in a decade is making fresh waves. Previous speculation was based on a Reddit discovery of a Daft Punk artist page on Chicago festival Lollapalooza's website, and now Redditors have found a mysterious page online, alive2017.com, which some interpret as indicative of a forthcoming tour.

Whether or not this round of inquiry holds water is up for debate. The "Alive" format is consistent with the band's history, considering their Alive 2006/2007 concert tour, as well as their Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 live albums. On top of that, sleuths on Reddit and Tumblr have dug into the website's source code to find numbers they interpret as coordinates for the cities of Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Indio, California, which would make sense as major tour destinations. There's also a countdown timer with a designated "WAKE DATE" of October 27, suggesting their might be some kind of announcement at that time.

The band is known for a tightly defined aesthetic, however, which makes us question whether the website is real as it's not in keeping with their usual visual style. Looking at the actual source code, it contains somewhat cheesy sci-fi language ("TRANSMISSION INTERRUPTED…LISTENING……LISTENING…NO SIGNAL DETECTED. RETRY IN 10s…") that frankly seems like a joke. But who knows, we might be wrong.

Representatives for the band did not return THUMP's request for comment.
