Listen to "A Little Closer" From Julien Jabre & Mt. Eden feat. Hayley Gene

It's an adrenaline-fueled power drive through a melting pot of swirling synths, powerful breakdowns and atmospheric vocals.

2009 was the year of the dubstep remix and a time where the genre was experiencing a rapid resurgence and evolution that was fueled mostly by swarms of screeching, wobble-friendly remixes of popular songs from throughout previous years. In a state of near-hysteria, bass-hungry newcomers regularly scoured the growing realm of internet blogs for the latest headache-inducing reincarnation of tracks ranging from Bloodhound Gang's "Bad Touch" to Caspa's seminal remix of Rusko's "Cockney Thug."

One standout release of 2009 that served to establish dubstep's new wave was Mt. Eden's (known at the time as Mt. Eden Dubstep) original "Sierra Leone," a viral reworking of South African group Freshlyground's track "I'd Like." Since then, the New Zealand duo has honed their skills, signed a multi-album deal with Ultra Records and established themselves as a group whose talents extend far past the days of cheeky remixes.

Today, we premiere their latest release on Ultra, "A Little Closer," a stellar collaboration with Parisian house producer Julien Jabre and vocalist Hayley Gene. The track is an adrenaline-fueled power drive through a melting pot of swirling synths, powerful breakdowns and Gene's atmospheric vocals. Hit play and experience this fascinating collaboration of sounds old and new.

"A Little Closer" will be released worldwide on May 6 via Ultra Records.
