Prok + Fitch's New EP is All About That Bass(Line)

"We knew we were onto something special."

Bred from the house-loving streets of Brighton, UK, production/DJ duo Prok + Fitch have always known their way around a tasty bassline. On their latest release for Toolroom Records, their Raw Cut EP,the duo showcase their roots in fine form with two tracks – "Raw Cut" and "Little Dance," both of which will inject some much needed temperature into your cryogenically freezing bones. "I think it really came together when we found the bassline," the guys tell THUMP. "When we got the drums locked in the vision for the rest of the track became obvious, we knew we were onto something special."

On the EP's A-side, you can even sense remnants of 90's house sounds, a trend the duo believes is back spreading through the UK as of late. "There has been a resurgence of that 90s sound, pianos, more organic sounds and old school beats. Todd Terry-esque! In terms of producers, Patrick Topping definitely has that old school 90s feel in his productions, and also Weiss—he is leading the way with that Chicago jackin' sound."

Take a listen to Prok + Fitch's new EP in its entirety above, and if you're traveling down to Mexico for BPM, be sure to check out their showcase with the rest of the Toolroom Records crew next Thursday at the Blue Parrot, where they'll be appearing alongside label head Mark Knight, Doorly, and Weiss. "There will certainly be plenty of tequilas with the Toolroom crew altogether," they laugh. "Lots of shots will be involved! But on a more serious note, one thing that is guaranteed is we will be testing a lot of new music. We have some new Prok + Fitch material to test out and play and there seems no better time or place then The BPM."
