Explain the name.

Aaron Cunningham: DETH is something I think about a lot. I like to remind myself that one day I will be dead and this body will rot. It helps me remember to enjoy my life and not waste a second. In a way DETH is a celebration of life. Existence is pure joy.

How would you describe your sound?

Toronto has a unique take on the dark dance vibe. Canada is known for being polite and all that, but all the scum heads go to Toronto and it's not a safe polite place. It's got some dark corners. In many ways DETH is just the music I want to hear when I go out to explore the city's underbelly that I love. My soundtrack.

What's your favorite label that isn't your own?

Deathlike Silence

How do you choose the artists that you work with?

Many talented people who weren't getting any attention surrounded me. It just seemed to be a good time to do this. DETH is my crew, these are the friends I have chosen to surround myself with in the city; the people who inspire me.

What's the next release on the label?

DETH VOL. 1, is a compilation introducing the labels current roster of artists. Many of the artists on the compilation have never released music before. SARIN, Distraksjon, Human Performance Lab, S!NS vs Ghettocyb.org and #DOVE are all projects that have never released anything. It's an exciting time for DETH, knowing that we have so many talented artist that the world has yet to hear.

The release is balanced out by some more well known artist such as SINS, HUREN and Vierance. We will be holding a record release party on July 12 at the Silver Dollar in Toronto, featuring many of the artist from the compilation.

How far ahead do you plan your releases?

Things are happening very organically, but with a plan, kind of. Everyone is keeping me up to date with how close they are to finalizing their EPs. Many of us will be collaborating, remixing or doing guest spots on each other's albums. We will be doing roughly one release per month. Many of us are also video artists, and all of us are visual artists, so there will be more dimensions to DETH than just music.
