Underground producer Gobby has been making twisty beats for a while now, including producing Mykki Blanco's 2014 single "Funami." He was quiet for most of last year, but with a new album out with acclaimed dance label DFA, Gobby is poised to step into the limelight.

No Mercy Bad Poet is the producer's most cohesive effort to date, an amalgamation of all the trippy synthetics and buzzy beats that concerned his previous output, but instead of a collection of tracks, the LP coalesces into an existential narrative. In particular, lead single "144 My Back" provides what seems like an inner monologue spoken through a vocoder, and it seems fitting that the subject of its music video is a melancholic muppet floating through a black void. Watch it below.

DFA has released No Mercy Bad Poet on a blue cassette tape in a limited edition of 300. You can grab it, a t-shirt, and stream the album on Gobby's bandcamp or below the video.
