Idriss D’s “RIP Ouarda” is an Enjoyably Villainous Musical Tell-All

A tribute to his late grandmother at a danceable tempo.

Layer upon layer of sound creeps from the heart of Idriss D's "RIP Ouarda," until, finally, villainous vocals unleash a welcomed discomfort. Hybridizing a handful of some of the most iconic dance music genres, the Italian producer's distinctly wicked sounds are the result of a music career that has spanned over a decade.

Head honcho at Memento Records, resident DJ at both Italy's Cocoricò Riccion and Amnesia Milano, and artist manager at DB Artists Musique, Idriss will soon have a debut album to add to his jam-packed curriculum vitae. Titled Amalgamation, the LP will be a musical tell-all of personal moments from the last few years. This is includes "RIP Ouarda," which Idriss says is in honour of his late grandmother.

Shoving intimate concepts into a danceable tempo may be unusual in a genre that prides itself on pure escapism, but for Idriss, keeping listeners mentally engaged is an important part of the experience.

Amalgamation will be released via Memento Records on December 18.
