Photo by Kenny Rodriguez.Fresh off the release of his wonderful September album Happiness, New York's Eli Escobar debuts a fresh pack of disco-soaked edits on Brooklyn's Razor-N-Tape. Simply titled Eli Escobar Edits, the four-tracker is an uncomplicated affair; the producer subtly adds a variety of elements to a mysterious quartet of disco tracks that would feel right at home on Saturday night on a Studio 54 dancefloor. The release kicks off with an extended funk-leaning edit before settling into the percussion heavy "Everybody." On the record's b-side, which features an old school NYC subway token on the record sleeve, we're treated to "The Music." Perhaps a familiar vibe to those seasoned dancers lucky enough to spend a night or two in the city's famed Paradise Garage, the six minute number is built around a palette of loose and organic drums, as well as a hypnotic vocal loop that slowly unfolds into a powerful climax.
