Leon Vynehall Shares Stream of His Blissful Double 12"

Leon Vynehall's forthcoming release Rojus (Lithuanian for "paradise"), is now streaming on NPR and it lives up in every way to its namesake.

The Brighton-based producer's new extended EP doesn't begin with a beat, but with an overture of lush synths and samples of exotic bird calls that summon up the tropical pinks and jungly greens that make up the record's cover. Vynehall takes his time on Rojus, seemingly dropping in new elements on each track: the synesthetic bliss is only enhanced when the percussion comes in on the second track "Saxony," and hypnotizing vocal lyric on the third "Beau Sovereign." The effect is almost Dantean, with Vynehall as our Beatrice leading us through the spheres of Paradiso, a journey that culminates with the Rojus's penultimate track "Kiburu's" where animal-like synth screeches are brought to heel with an angelic melody and fluttery rhythm. It's only on the record's closing track that Vynehall brings us slowly back down to Earth.
