Listen to Todd Edwards' Banging Afro-House Remix of Cerrone's "Funk Makossa"

The garage legend offers a club-ready flip for the French disco producer's "Afro" EP out April 12.

The acclaimed French Disco producer Cerrone has not dropped the beat since the 70s; he's worked with everyone from Nile Rodgers to Toto, been sampled by the Beastie Boys and Nas among others, and performed in the Palace of Versailles and for the Dalai Lama. Having conquered the West, Cerrone's now turned his attention to Africa, specifically the music genre Makossa, which he's now given his infectious disco treatment to produce a small body of work.

Cerrone's Afro Ep, due on February 12 on Because Music, features collaborations with Manu Dibango and Tony Allen and includes remixes by Mind Enterprises and garage legend Todd Edwards who here has taken the animated percussion and call-and-response flavor of Cerrone and Dibango's "Funk Makossa" and turned it into a four-on-the-floor club pleaser.
