12 Days of Mixmas | ƱZ

So if you're keeping score, so far we've had chiptune, big room, techno and some booty breakin' house music during the 12 Days of Mixmas. 808s at the ready, masked marauder UZ rolls up with the dark trap vibes for Day 5.

UZ can drop bangers like anybody in the bass game, but UZ's signature as a producer and DJ is an upfront, dark, kinda warped dance-trap sound that favors minimalist over tear-out. UZ has owned that vibe since he showed up in the game a couple years back already on top form, going on to release through the five (or so) golden rings of dance labels including Mad Decent, Boys Noize Records, Mau5trap, OWSLA, Fool's Gold and SMOG.

This mix in particular finds UZ in familiar form for the opening salvo, dropping horns and weird shit while occasionally veering into brief house segues. For a 30 minute composition, there's a whole lot of character. By the time we round the corner into the last five minutes, though shit turns up and it all gets a bit rowdy.
