British artist Mumdance aka Jack Adams does not have conservative taste when it comes to production and DJing. He's one of the foremost proponents of the so-called "weightless" of grime—defined largely by negative space and a de-emphasized role of beats, going against the dance climate's dominant trends—and over the last couple of years, his Rinse FM slot has proven to be a vital hub for cutting-edge club music.

For 2016's first show of the year, Adams decided to start things off with a bang by bringing in two essential figures of Cairo's mahraganat scene, an infectiously upbeat genre of music innovated as the soundtrack to huge wedding dance parties. The two hour program features an ecstatic live performance from virtuosic keyboardist Islam Chipsy—know for his work with E.E.K.—as well as an interview with Mahmoud Refat of 100 copies about the contemporary mahraganat scene in Cairo.
