After six years, Toronto nightclub and concert venue the Hoxton has announced it will close its doors at the end of January.

As reported by NOW Magazine, co-owners Richard Lambert of the Social Group and promoter Embrace opted not to renew their five-year lease, and that the building's developer has plans to eventually redevelop the site.

"When you can't do anything with the space—you can't renovate, you can't spend money—then you can't build a future," Lambert told NOW. "If you're not going to be there for more than a year or two, it's just not worth it."

Since opening in 2011, the popular Bathurst Street club has hosted performances by Canadian and international artists, including Baauer, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Kaytranada, Keys N Krates, Hudson Mohawke, Skepta, Skrillex, Zeds Dead, and more. The announcement follows the recent news of the closure of two other longstanding Toronto venues, Hugh's Room and Soybomb.

Acts are booked until the end of the month, with a final party Jan. 28 featuring Canadian DJ and producer Hunter Siegel.
