Who says that people from Toronto and Montreal get to have all the fun? From August 8th to 9th, the second annual Chasing Summer Music Festival at historic Fort Calgary played host to 14,000 people, 32 artists and an audial onslaught of electronic music, including acts like Tiesto, Hardwell, and New World Punx. As one the largest outdoor electronic dance music festivals of Western Canada, it featured a slew of unforgettable moments. From the kandi kids and flower girls, to the old timers and shirtless behemoths-Chasing Summer brought in people from all shapes, sizes, and levels of sobriety. Canucks danced their asses off for 10 hours on Friday on both the main stage and the Sunrise stage, hit the after-parties, and did it all over again on Saturday.

In our Chasing Summer recap, we picked the brains of New World Punx members Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten, Adventure Club, Ilan Bluestone, and MAKJ to find out why Canada, (more specifically Calgary) has become such a hotspot for electronic dance music. The answers ranged from "Canada is a naughty place," to "the fans in Canada just know how to party." It made one thing quite clear: Canada sits on the forefront of the electronic music scene and it's only going to get bigger. That notion holds especially true for Calgary and Chasing Summer, which saw the number of festival attendees grow by more than 50% this year. We can't wait to see what they have in store next.
