Fresh off announcing their debut album earlier this week, EDM duo The Chainsmokers yesterday took to Twitter to respond to Esquire's January 30 article alleging that they are "the Nickelback of EDM." Choosing to take the slight in stride instead of pushing back, they responded to the publication on Twitter with a video of themselves singing a medley of their single "Paris" with the maligned alt rock band's song "How You Remind Me."The arrangement for their performance is stripped-back and straightforward: Drew Taggart sings and Alex Pall rings out the song's chords on keys, while a slightly too-loud metronome keeps time. They don't get too far into the chorus of the Nickelback song before they both crack up and the video ends, but they message seems clear: they don't mind the comparison.Pall and Taggart are nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming Grammy awards, and they're also up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their duo "Closer" with Halsey.
