The Editors' New Groove

From Tony Quattro to Synchrojack and 12th Planet, these are the brand new tracks we're sweating.

The Editors' New Groove is a weekly pow-wow on the freshest new releases on THUMP's editors and regular contributors' radars.

Vivian Host: Digital Soundboy's young blood Dismantle is back with the Dutchy and bass-filled Round and Round EP. We're feeling these three big club trax but an extra special rewind for the DJ Zinc/UK funky-inspired driver "D Riddim." Wine di waisssssline.

Max Pearl: New York is a dark place. Everybody works too hard and then drinks too much and now it's too cold to even have a cigarette on the roof. It's so grey outside that I might self-mutilate just to see some color. Anyways, this came out a year ago but was just reissued on Daniel Avery's new album, and it sounds like the inside of my brain right now.

Michelle Lhooq: Yeah, yeah, yeah, fuck off. Sometimes you just need some throw-your-hands-in-the-air EDM bangerz to get your rocks off. This one by Elephante is exactly that and frankly I couldn't care less what side you're repping in The Great EDM Debate—I'm too busy singing along.

Joel Fowler: Loved this track the first time I heard it out, but had no idea what it was called, so I'd just sing it to my friends, like "What is that DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUNDUN song?!" At last I found the record, and of course it's the always crafty Lone.

Max Pearl: "Cyndie. Claudia. Nicky… you betta work!" This track has a serious attitude problem and it's making me feel feisty. So to all the people who've emailed me in the last hour: excuse the subtly insulting responses you've just received. It's Tony Quattro's fault.

Joel Fowler: I first heard about Synchrojack on the flip of a Mike Huckaby remix. They put some jams out in '95 but haven't seen much since. Vibes and Pepper Records recently reissued this moody little number. Turn off the lights, light a candle, and get jiggy with it.

Vivian Host: This one's been out a few weeks but fork it. Still rinsing it. LA bass kingpin 12thy going back to his D&B roots with next hype producer Protohype in tow on a flashback Bad Company tip (get to know). I don't care if you wanna call this fast dubstep or trap on crack, "Stinky" sounds hyper than your mom's bath salts and harder than your dad's… Anyway, go hard or go home.

Michelle Lhooq: I was supposed to interview Paris' mom, Kathy Hilton, a few weeks ago--and I was so psyched to finally get a chance to ask Mrs. Hilton what it was like to have a diamond-crusted piece of shit pop out of her vagina. Unfortunately, Kathy cancelled at the last minute. Buuuuumer.

Mike Steyels: Philly club is ADHD music. It's impossible for your attention to drift from this stuff—it runs at 150 BPM and above, switches up every four bars, and is pretty much the most in-your-face music ever. This one by West Philly's DJ Tim is just over a minute long--just enough time to pop an Adderall—and I can't get enough of it.

Michelle Lhooq: If Osunlade is the high priest of deep house, this quasi-spiritual bossa nova track is his magic elixir. The B-side "What Gets You High" is the real clincher here, and those fundakelic beats are exactly what I need to sail into the weekend.
