According to the Brooklyn trio, the album was inspired by an impending war with "superior technological Demi-Gods."

The self-described "techno fantasy collective" DUST—comprised of Bossa Nova Civic Club's John Barclay, audio engineer Michael Sherburn, and multi-disciplinary artist Greem Jellyfish—has been a powerful force in Brooklyn dance music for a good minute now. After warming up for a few years with hard-hitting EPs for the likes of Mannequin, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, and Mike Simonetti's 2MR, they've just announced that they'll return to the latter label for their debut LP, Agony Planet.

Ahead of its release next year, the trio have shared the brash single "Breeding Pit," which finds them delivering rave-ready techno, with an extra layer of aggression provided by Greem Jellyfish's ecstatic vocals. Sherburn gave THUMP some context for Agony Planet via email: "This record is our first conceptual album from beginning to end," he explained. "Highly inspired by the possible war of our species and planet from superior technological Demi-Gods. Science fiction tropes lay the ground work for a possible future where maybe even we become the alien to mankind of the past." Check out "Breeding Pit" below, see the LP's tracklist after the jump, and and be sure to pick it up when it's out January 22.
