A Night in the Life of HRMXNY

The music video for "You" pays a realistic homage to Toronto house parties.

A man who's both of few words and many tweets, HRMXNY is Chris De Minico―Toronto's hip-hop and deep house spinning little brother. Having honed his sound through shows with similar artists like Kaytranada, Sango and STWO, you certainly won't hear anything close to thou-who-shall-not-be-named (EDM) coming from HRMXNY. Nor will you find anything that hypothetically stays in one lane―as HRMXNY is usually sporting a limp gym towel underneath his baseball hat when he performs.

With his debut EP In Time on the horizon, HRMXNY has decided to give his track "You" the music video treatment. Described tamely as "a night in the life of HRMXNY," the video loops you through a quintessential Toronto house party, complete with balloons, hipsters in black tuques and liquor filled water bottles. Filmed on what appears to be a 2001 Nokia flip phone, the video is the kind of short that lets the music speak louder than the visuals. Every so often HRMXNY floats into the shot, sometimes nodding his head to the music, sometimes talking on the phone―sometimes both.

By the looks of his social media accounts and his inherent habit of signing off with "shout out to all the pear," Internet culture is close to HRMXNY's heart. So the shot of a Spice Girls poster donning the walls of this shindig feels just right.

Check out the music video and be sure to find his EP on his Soundcloud on January 14.
