Hannah Diamond’s Debut Video Is An Artsy Contemplation of the Loneliness of the Internet Age

"Hi" flexes Diamond's hyperreal penchant to explore our perception of reality in an increasingly virtual world.

PC Music's pop starlet Hannah Diamond just dropped her first-ever music video to new single "Hi," the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2014 kawaii anthem and inaugural PC Music official release, "Every Night." Unlike the former, Diamond's new gem, and visual accompaniment, flexes both the label and Diamond's symbolic glossy aesthetic, as well as their hyperreal penchant to explore our perception of reality in an increasingly virtual world dominated by the internet.

The song, Diamond says in a press release, "is about interacting with people who often only show small segments of their life, and the dilemmas around authenticity that this presents."

"It's been insightful seeing first-hand the conclusions people draw on what is considered 'real' with reference to people," she adds. "As someone who has regularly had their own authenticity challenged since I started releasing music, this aspect feels very personal to me."

Filmed in a candy-hued bedroom chock full of webcam kisses, the saccharine, i-D produced video complements the Brit's signature combination of chirpy vocals and bold, bright synth sequences.
