Floating Points Shares New Live Video Recorded in the Mojave Desert

It's from his upcoming 27-minute film 'Reflections – Mojave Desert,' entirely featuring brand new compositions.

UK neuroscientist-turned-musician Sam Shepherd, a.k.a. Floating Points, today shared the first video from his upcoming Reflections – Mojave Desert live performance film. The clip for "Silurian Blue" was recorded with his band against a backdrop of scenic natural rock formations, and finds the quintet playing a structured psychedelic rock jam.

The track makes consistent use of negative space, which leaves room to emphasize the expansive sense of space in the natural setting. Spanish filmmaker Anna Diaz Ortuño directed the 27-minute film, which will mark the first in a series of Floating Points releases recorded around the world, incorporating local environmental sounds.

Reflections – Mojave Desert tracklist:

1. Mojave Desert
2. Silurian Blue
3. Kites
4. Kelso Dunes
5. Lucerne Valley

The film and soundtrack will be co-released by Luaka Bop and Shepherd's own Pluto imprint on June 30.
