The Norwegian veterans are here to get you through the rest of the week.
While we might spend most of our time trying to convince you to listen to pounding, pummelling, club jams, we too appreciate the importance of taking it easy. That's why, as soon as we heard this mix from Norwegian duo Ost & Kjex, we knew we had to share it with you. It pulls off something special in that they have stuffed it to the gills with what you might term "soothing grooves," or "serene bangers" if you will. It's not ambience, far from it, and every track comes with kick, yet the whole resultant sensation on listening is not unlike gliding over a Norwegian Fjord.
Ost & Kjex, if you haven't come across them before, produce the sort of music that sits somewhat comfortably between The Knife and Hot Chip. They've been defining the game in Norway for close to a decade but are now starting to enjoy some success over here. They are due to release their first album in five years, Freedom Wig, in December, but in the meantime, you can get a taste for what they are all about by tucking into the elegant session below.
Freedom Wig is out December 4th on CD/LP and out now digitally, on DIYnamic Records.
