'Degrade Gracefully' with a Cut From UK Club Music Don Akito's New EP

Check out a future comedown classic from the Sans Absence boss.

The last time we featured

Sans Absence boss Akito here on THUMP, he was telling us all about the semi-mythical Dalston Dips. Nearly a year on, we still don't really know what they are—some say it's something to do with chicken, others have hinted at something more nefarious that you might find along the strip of a Saturday night.

What we do know, though, is that he's about to drop a new EP on Tight Knit and is planning a global takeover in 2016. Which is very exciting news for anyone who even remotely has the tiniest interest in contemporary club music. To celebrate that, we're bringing you a listen to EP cut and future comedown classic "Degrade Gracefully" and we had a chat with the man himself too. Check out both below.

THUMP: What're you most looking forward to non-musically in 2016?
Akito: Travelling! Meeting all those unfamiliar faces, attempting to chat up some local spices, eating and drinking too much. The plan is Europe, Asia then onto the U.S later in the year. Besides travelling I just want to read and learn more again, I promised myself I'd learn to speak Japanese, and I'm going to learn to cook, because I can't eat ramen for the rest of my life, that's long; so if any one wants to skill swap, holla at your boy.

When I last interviewed you, you told me a Dalston Dip was something I'd get with buffalo wings in Birthdays. Where's the best wing spot in London atm?
Haha yeah, one of many potential interpretations; it's still got to be Famous Eno's elusive buffalo wings for me. Eno used to make them at the Hipsters Don't Dance 'HDD House Party' (Big up Hootie Who & Kazabon!) at the Libertine or if it was your birthday or if there was some fancy occasion; they've been a myth ever since but I'm promised big things on the horizon and Eno's never let me down – so keep 'em peeled.

The Pleasure Pending EP drops on Tight Knight on February 5th. Pre-order it here.
