Fabric Has Won Its Appeal Against Islington Council

The recommendations made by police would have come at a huge financial cost for the nightclub.

London nightclub fabric have won an appeal against Islington Council who sought to implement a set of strict security measures on the club, including sniffer dogs on the door and ID scans for all customers. The measures, had they been passed, would have come at great cost for the club with sniffer dogs priced at £300 a night for the venue. The recommendations came from the police following four drug-related deaths at the club in the space of three years.

The vote had been passed by the council in December of 2014 but a final decision had been pending since the club began their appeal. Today's news marks a major victory, not just for fabric, but for other nightclubs hoping to stand up against what many perceive unreasonable and often suffocating expectations set by police and licensing boards.
