Dekmantel Launch New Croatian Festival and Compilation Series, Selectors

Plane ticket anyone?

You probably didn't need another excuse to rustle up the cash for a weekend in Croatia, but hey, you've got one. Dutch festival demigods Dekmantel have decided to slink into the Adriatic next September with the inaugural edition of their Selectors festival. Featuring the likes of Hunee, Pender Street Steppers and Rahaan, it's clearly aimed at a connoisseur crowd who can't think of anything better than watching the sun go down with a bottle of two of lager while the Black Madonna and Daniele Baldelli thrash it out behind the decks. We can't think of many things better than that either, really.

Dekmantel founder Thomas Martojo says of the event that, "we immediately fell in love with the intimate, beautiful site and think it's the perfect place to translate our favourite stage from Dekmantel Festival and really take the time to deepen the idea behind it". They'll be using the legendary and much loved Barbarella's for the evening festivities with daytime events taking place around, "a small part of the beautiful coastline of the Adriatic Sea." Which sounds lovely.

Not content with just starting a new festival, the Dekmantel crew have decided to launch a compilation series too. Also named Selectors, the series offers DJs a chance to put together a few of their favourite rarities and obscurities in an elongated, unmixed passage. Motor City Drum Ensemble is stepping up to the plate for the first entry, with Young Marco and Joy Orbison to follow. You can listen to a snippet of MCDE's effort below:

Selectors takes place on September 1-5th. Head here for more information.
