This past weekend, several hundred arrests occurred at two California raves: Pomona's HARD Day of the Dead and San Bernardino's Escape: Psycho Circus, the LA Times reports. The former featured headliners such as Deadmau5, Future, and Skrillex, while the latter featured Eric Prydz, Loco Dice, and Paul Van Dyk.

In a statement, the Pomona Police Department reported a total of 310 arrests for both Saturday and Sunday at HARD Day of the Dead, further stating that they "primarily involved offenses related to public intoxication, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and the possession of a controlled substance for personal use or for the purpose of sales." The arrests coincide with Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors' recent creation of a task force dedicated expressly to safety at electronic music events; HARD, per the Times, took great pains to ensure the safety of festival-goers, paying for "dozens of medical staff at two designated areas, three on-site emergency room physicians, 184 police officers and 24 free water distribution points."

San Bernardino Police Lt. Richard Lawhead told the Times that Escape: Psycho Circus "saw no major incidents, and most of the arrests were on charges of illegal drug possession, trespassing or public intoxication." There were 180 arrests at that event.
