MIXED BY Mike Paradinas (Trancework)

The Planet Mu boss crashes trance into footwork with heady results.

Okay, it's only Thursday, but we guarantee that you will not hear anything quite like this before the week is out.

Mike Paradinas - whose μ-Ziq project has spanned over twenty years of experimental techno, and recently as one half of Heterotic with Lara Rix-Martin - is perhaps best known as the boss of Planet Mu; the innovative UK label who have brought the world Venetian Snares, Neil Landstrumm and Machinedrum (to name a few). Heading up an independent label that's not only survived but partly led the way for the UK underground is no small feat and, accordingly, Paradinas' tastes range far and wide.

As part of the TRANCEWORK project launched by London clothing brand Long Clothing and the UK's first footwork crew We Buy Gold, Paradinas has turned in a mix of 160bpm trance remixes in the vein of footwork. In a word, it's wild. Recent transitions in the footwork style have taken a weightier, darker tone, but Paradinas has thrust footwork into the light on this one - making it about as HI-NRG as I've heard this Chicago sound get, frankly.

The TRANCEWORK project's compilation is released next week via Long Clothing x We Buy Gold.
