Check Out Kowton's Triumphant Gwilym Gold Remix

Great name, great song, great remix.

Sometimes in this life, you come across someone with an unfuckwithably good name. Zsa Zsa Gabor, Kris Kristofferson, Donald Trump. Let's add Gwilym Gold to that list. Gwilym Gold. What a name! Let it roll round your mouth like the last bite of a particularly good Aero, undulating and dissipating on your tongue. Gwilym Gold.

Luckily for Gwilym, he's got more than a world class name going for it. Gold makes the kind of post-Wild Beasts, semi-operatic, semi-experimental, classically-leaning avant-pop that's certain to induce goosebumps. His voice is an ethereal, whispy, gossamer thing of beauty. So obviously Bristolian basshead, and Livity Sound member, Kowton, has buried it in concrete-thick slabs of slow-moving molasses low end on this remix we're streaming exclusively below.

Stiff, alien, percussion rides round crackle and hiss, beatific piano chords hang in mid-air before curlicuing into nothing, all underpinned by that wonderful, haunting, vulnerable voice. Not to put to fine a point on it: this is a triumph.

Gold's debut album, A Paradise, features collaborations with Darkstar and Nico Muhly and is available via Brille Records on August 21. Pre-order it here.
