Listen Back to Mixes by George FitzGerald, Oneman, and A Guy Called Gerald from Balamii's Big Weekend

The SE station took over Peckham hotspot the Nines for a month of incredible music—listen back to some of the best of it now.

THUMP UK's eagle eyed readers might have noticed that we're big fans of Peckham radio station Balamii, to the point where, if they existed, we'd probably wear Balamii branded swimming trunks down to Brockwell Lido. Given that they consistently book fantastic guests and have a steady stream of top notch residents—including, ahem, the THUMP DJs—that shouldn't be a surprise.

Nor should it be a surprise that their takeover of Peckham bar/cafe/generally-lovely-place-to-spend-a-few-hours-with-mates the Nines has been a rip-roaring success. Every weekend this month, the Balamii team have decked the courtyard out with decks and blessed Rye Lane with set after set of fantastic music.

Not quite ready to see our summer fall into the gutter and rot amongst the carrot shavings and bashed-up cans of cider, we asked the Balamii crew if we could bring you lot a trio of mixes from the weekend just gone, and being incredibly lovely, they obliged. So why not slip to sliders on and settle down with six hours of aural bliss courtesy of some of the UK's best DJs.

George FitzGerald

About a year ago now, we found ourselves sitting in a nice restaurant just off Oxford Street with George FitzGerald. The lunchtime rush was over, and an air of calm was bestowed upon the place. He sipped green tea, I Coca Cola. For an hour all was right with the world. I often think back to that afternoon, back to the conversation and George's nice jumper. It's a happy mental location. I am at one there. I am also pretty at one with the Balamii studio, so the combination of the two has made me happier than I could ever have imagined. I hope it does the same for you.

A Guy Called Gerald

The UK acid originator rolled through on a wet and wild Saturday night for two hours of zippy house, rushing technoid belters, and a perfectly weighted selection of back-in-the-day screamers. Our cocktails might have been slightly diluted by the unmistakable taste of English summer rain but the weather certainly didn't put a dampener on a chance to see a genuine legend strut his stuff in a fantastically intimate environment.

Oneman

Fresh from another instalment of his Friday night XOYO residency, South London's most technically gifted selector rolled up to the Nines to see the weekend off in stunning fashion. Provided you've not been up to your neck in neck in loam scraped from the bottom of the boating pond in Dulwich park for the last few years, you'll be more than aware of what Oneman's all about, so it was no surprise that he was the perfect post-roast DJ.

Balamii broadcast live from Peckham every day from 11AM-9PM, except on Sunday when they get to lie in bed with cold Ribena and old episodes of Football Focus.
