MIXED BY Matmos

The Björk collaborators delve into some electronic weirdness

Here at THUMP we're fans of a 4/4 kickdrum and house piano melody as much as the next, but sometimes you just need to delve a bit deeper to get some truly interesting results. The latest MIXED BY effort comes from Baltimore duo Matmos, whose work has never shied away from the weird and wonderful. Though they've been releasing since the late 90s, one of their most interesting incarnations came in their work with Icelandic hero Björk on her Vespertine and Medúlla albums—so dreamy eccentricity abounds. It's a mix of 80s anachronisms; from weirdo mainstream pop to obscure industrial, coldwave and noise.
