Travel to the Indian Ocean With this Exclusive Track From Medlar

Listen to the title track from the south London producer's underwater deep house odyssey on Riverette right now.

After a string of releases on Wolf Music, South London's finest, Medlar, has rocked up on Spanish imprint Riverette and the results are even more satisfying than glugging down jug after jug of cheap and nasty sangria in a Castillian square on a summer's morning. The Juno EP, which rolls out into the world on the 8th of April, is a four track skim through lushly dark, darkly lush dancefloor territory and we're stoked to be bringing you the world premier of the title track right here on THUMP.

"For the last few years I've been playing around with synths and drum machines, having previously only worked with a computer, and this is some of the results of that," Medlar tells us when we ask about how the EP took shape. "Two of the tracks I was hanging onto for ages so put them in my Solid Steel mix last year, Carlos and Andres (Riverette) liked them and wanted to build an EP around it. For me it's really nice to share a record with my good buddies Ishmael and FYI Chris!"

He cites the EP's biggest inspiration as a trip to the the island of Réunion, in what he describes as "the maddest experience" of his life. "It's literally a tropical paradise! It was all the more bizarre as it came about from a random message I received at the Medlar Facebook page from a guy called Vincent who's now a good friend. I saw so many things I never thought I'd get to and met some amazing people, all in all very inspirational and humbling. I'm now obsessed with the idea of visiting places to write music."

Now, we've not been to Réunion so we'll have to take Medlar's word for it that it sounds like the place. We'd very much like to visit somewhere that sounds as gorgeous as the EP's title track does so, Vincent, mate, slide into the DMs ASAP. Thanks.
