We Don't Really Understand the New Machine Girl Track But We Love It

Wilder than an afternoon at Alton Towers.

Every so often a track arrives in your inbox that you have no way of computing. It doesn't fit into any neat box you've mentally created in days, weeks, months, years of trawling through SoundCloud and navigating the depths of your Gmail account. You're left perplexed, befuddled, confused. Sometimes that confusion just irritates and annoys. Sometimes, though, just sometimes, it's more exciting than Christmas Day at Alton Towers. American producer Machine Girl's "Out By 16" has got us pulling a metaphorical cracker on Oblivion.

A dizzying mix of juke, footwork, house, trap, future garage, wonky and jungle it storms along at the kind of pace that'll leave you feeling sick. In a good way. The kind of sick you feel after a few hours at the Pizza Hut buffet. The good kind of sick. Machine Girl herself is part of the Nu-Kawaii movement, a scene that she compares to a religion of sorts, "because it's dealing with the spirit -- you as a spiritual being. It gives you tools you can use to apply to your life.We are the way to happiness. We can bring peace and unite cultures."

While we're not sure about that, we do know that this track, from new release Gemini is a resoultely technicolour explosion of everything.
