3 Deaths Reported at Amsterdam Dance Event

A 41-year old woman has been pronounced dead in addition to two males reported earlier this weekend.

Dutch authorities confirmed the death of a third individual as a result of ADE's annual celebrations last week. A 41-year old dutch woman is reported to have passed in addition to the two males already confirmed - a 21-year old from Holland and 33-year old from Serbia. Both were taken ill shortly after exiting ADE-affiliated events.

Reports are stating that drug use was 'presumably involved,' but no official statements have been made on the subject.

ADE brought over 2,200 artists to 120 clubs for over 300 events to Amsterdam last week, as it does on a yearly basis, but this is the first death ever to be reported at or as a result of the event. Although the United States has suffered a rash of festival related deaths this Summer, such situations are more of a rarity in Europe.

ADE swiftly released the following statement:

"The ADE organization is shocked by these tragic accidents. We are in close contact with all of the venues, municipalities, and emergency services that are a part of the ADE Festival and every precaution is taken to ensure the safety and security of the audience at all participating venues. Each venue is responsible for its own security and door policy and a comprehensive inspection is also completed at every venue entrance. Drug use is not tolerated in any way at ADE and its partners make every effort to ensure that people are behaving responsibly at the event. Ultimately there is a limit to what we can do and individuals must take responsibility for their own actions. Our thoughts are with the families and friends at this time and we would like to express our deepest sympathy to them."

Be safe out there.
